Palestine and Syria Featured

Fortunately there are some good European media reporting and commenting on the worst battlefields in the Near East: Palestine and Syria and the humanitarian crisises. Academics and artists are equally very much concerned. One of them is the conductor Daniel Barenboim who holds two passports – Israeli and Palestinians. As a UN Messenger of Peace he recently raised his voice in the British GUARDIAN and should be heard:

Barenboim ist u.a. Ehrendoktor der Universität Oxford und musikalischer Direktor der Berliner Staatsoper, aber auch ein bedeutender Pianist, den ich im Leipziger Gewandhaus mit Bachs "Wohltemperiertem Klavier" hörte. Zugleich versucht er seit längerem, durch die Musik, insbesondere durch das Orchester des West-Östlichen Diwans, eine Brücke zwischen Arabern und Israelis zu schlagen.
